The Lakes of Pontrachtrain - New Download
Thanks to Tinker we have a wonderful new download of The Lakes of Pontrachtrain available to members only. It is Malachi singing for his own pleasure
while in the Fame Academy house and is really nice. He is so talented and his voice would charm birds from trees. I think hearing something different
reminds us of this. We can forgive the slight word changes in places as he was singing an unrehearsed song from memory. I love it.
We also have a couple more downloads in the pipeline when I can find time to upload them so watch this space as they say!
As for this song. I have recordings of both Paul Brady and Christy Moore singing it but I love the raw quality of this so much.
I'm sure Mags can tell us all about this wonderful song. She is a real folk music buff but I am pretty sure it dates from the American Civil War.
Tell us what you think of it. It can be found on Malachi's Music section on the Download Section. Just click on Downloads at the top of the page
and trawl through to the T's. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks again Theresa for making the mp3

It is indeed a lovely song. I think of disputed origin but def American and probably civil war . Its definately been adopted into the Irish tradition
and a great song to have in the downloads.
A dream is like a river ever changing as it flows..
choose to chance the rapids and dare to dance the tide...Mal's duet at Jordanstown. ( The River- a Garth Brooks song)
